Emerging From The Plenum by Leslie Fieger

"I have been coming increasingly to the opinion that
this is really an artificial division and that what life is about is
coming to an undivided life...The openness to transformation, the
commitment to new knowing, has to move from the head to the heart. We
need a new alchemy, a synthesis, where the demands of spirit and matter
are somehow brought together and we realize that they are undivided."

We seek, through scientific exploration and discovery to educate
ourselves about the universe we perceive and, increasingly, also our place
in it. The mysticism that was once the purview of the esoteric is now part
of the scientific conversation. Physics has melded with metaphysics. The
resulting transformation of our species worldview or reality paradigm is
apparent to anyone who is involved in any kind of serious self-education.
The old world is disappearing and a new world is
emerging. No where is that more apparent than on the world wide web
or Internet. The Internet is a mutating reflection of the collective
consciousness of humanity and is, I believe, rapidly evolving to become the
Noosphere originally elucidated by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
That we exist in a time of great crisis is apparent to anyone who does
not have their head buried in the sand.
The ecosphere that enables and permits our very physical existence is
under extreme stress brought on by the activities of human beings. We are
poisoning our environment and ourselves.
The global geopolitical situation is a mess and getting worse as we
continue to elect and/or support warmongering idiots to positions of
leadership. We are poisoning our minds and spirits with cultural drivel.
We also exist in a time of great opportunity.
We can re-conceptualize our role in the universe. We can re-create our own
image. We can consciously design our future. We can begin to mold ourselves
and our universe. We can accept responsibility for our own ongoing
evolution. We can transmutate from creature to creator.
Each of us, as individuals, need to forge a new worldview and
communicate that worldview to our fellows.
"The current worldview has it that everything is made of matter, and
everything can be reduced to the elementary particles of matter, the basic
constituents—building blocks—of matter. And cause arises from the
interactions of these basic building blocks or elementary particles;
elementary particles make atoms, atoms make molecules, molecules make
cells, and cells make brain.
“But all the way, the ultimate cause is always the interactions between
the elementary particles. This is the belief—all cause moves from the
elementary particles. This is what we call ‘upward causation’. So in this
view, what human beings—you and I—think of as our free will does not
really exist. It is only an epiphenomenona or secondary phenomenon,
secondary to the causal power of matter. And any causal power that we seem
to be able to exert on matter is just an illusion. This is the current
paradigm.
“Now, the opposite view is that everything starts with consciousness.
That is, consciousness is the ground of all being. In this view,
consciousness imposes "downward causation." In other words, our free will
is real. When we act in the world we really are acting with causal power.
This view does not deny that matter also has causal potency—it does not
deny that there is causal power from elementary particles upward, so there
is upward causation—but in addition it insists that there is also downward
causation. It shows up in our creativity and acts of free will, or when we
make moral decisions. In those occasions we are actually witnessing
downward causation by consciousness."
—Amit Goswami, Professor of Physics
It is your consciousness that is the causal agency. Our collective human
consciousness forms a reality matrix that determines or defines the
playground in which we play out our lives. By intentionally educating
ourselves about how we participate, by our method of thinking, in the
creation of the universe, we can reconceptualize our role from creature to
creator.
It is time to wake up to the new reality. It is time to become an
activist and wake up your neighbors. Educate yourself and then educate your
fellow human creatures that all things arise from light and consciousness.
The real emerges from the ethereal. The physical emerges from the
metaphysical.
"We had this old idea, that there was a universe out there, and here is
man, the observer, safely protected from the universe by a six-inch slab
of plate glass. Now we learn from the quantum world that even to observe
so minuscule an object as an electron we have to shatter the plate glass;
we have to reach in there... So the old word-observer-simply has to be
crossed off the books, and we must put in the new word-participator. In
this way we'll come to realize that the universe is a participatory
universe."
—John Wheeler - Professor of Physics
It is no mere co-incidence that you are here at this time. It is no mere
co-incidence that you are reading this information. You have created this
reminder moment as much as I. The web of our lives and energies are as
connected as our computers are via the World Wide Web.
"Synchronicity has gradually been enfolded into an entirely new
dimension; in place of a causal deterministic world, in which mind and
matter are two separate substances, appears a universe of infinite
subtlety that is much closer to a creative living organism than to a
machine. Reality, in this way, is pictured as a limitless series of levels
which extend to deeper and deeper subtleties and out of which the
particular, explicate order of nature and the order of consciousness and
life emerge. Synchronicities can therefore be thought of as an expression
of this underlying movement, for they unfold as patterns of thoughts and
arrangements of material processes, which have a meaningful conjunction
when taken together.
“Paradoxically, the nothingness of the ground state, out of which the
universe is sustained, is both a vacuum and a plenum. It is a vacuum
because, as in the everyday idea of empty space, matter is able to move
through it without interruption. But it is also a plenum because it is
infinitely full of energy. Indeed, the observable material universe is
nothing more than the minor fluctuations upon this vast sea of energy.
And, it should not be forgotten, just as this infinite energy is used in
the generation of matter, so it is also available to mind, through the
deeper ground of its source."
—F. David Peat, Professor of Physics
Approaching the void (vacuum), we find that it contains all things (the
plenum), existent and potential. In the void is the wellspring of
creativity. Infinite mental and creative energy is available for you.
Potential and potency. The future.
"If you want to see the future of culture and consciousness, look to
the edges of human experience. Find the cracks where the boundaries of
experience are extended. Cultural change begins like a crack in the wall
of our ordered and highly structured existence. Sometimes the change is
successful and survives long enough to generate a viable foundation for
community. Sometimes a crack in our social existence grows into a force
strong enough to drag all of reality through itself and on into an
altogether different paradigm. For over fifteen years now, the Internet,
and the larger world of cyberspace itself (the totality of non-spatial and
non- temporal electronic culture), have existed on the edge of dominate
culture. Until as recently as last year, the Internet has remained
invisible and beyond both the experience and scrutiny of the majority.
Today, the Internet has permanently entrenched itself within the landscape
of alternative culture, and has a steadily growing presence in the larger,
more prevalent world of mundane reality. The Internet is, I believe, a
cultural phenomenon that is destined to be the seedbed of a new form of
consciousness and a new type of self."
—Michael Strangelove (1992)
Now, ten years later than the above comment by M. Strangelove, 1/12th
(500 million) of the world's population has direct Internet access in their
own homes. Another 1/12th have indirect Internet access through cyber
cafes, work sites, schools or community sites. That means that a total of 1
billion folks are able to access the Infosphere (soon to become the
Noosphere). 1 billion people who can reach out and touch each other,
receiving and giving information, knowledge and education to each other. 1
billion people that you can potentially reach and influence; 1 billion
people who can be encouraged to transform the way they think; 1 billion
people who can help to create a new worldview and a transformed collective
human consciousness.
How powerful that enables you to be.
"Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire,
you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will."
